Seed Full Cycle Usage

For Skin

In addition to it’s tanning properties, Urucum has regenerative properties to support healthier, luminescent skin. High levels of vitamin A, D, and beta-carotene help the production of collagen and reduces the appearance of wrinkles. In addition, the tocotrienols present in urucum has a very similar structure to vitamin E. It’s one of the reasons it’s so sought after for the treatment of skin.

It’s often used on the skin as an emollient, or moisturizer, because of its anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and astringent abilities. It’s antioxidative properties are so strong that it was historically used to treat wounds and burns. It was even used by ancient civilizations to treat snake bites.

Urucum can be applied topically in a paste, oil, and it can also be ingested to reap the full benefits for the skin.

For Internal

Urucum seeds also have detoxing and antibacterial properties when ingested internally. It has antioxidant and nutritional values that nurture our bodies, but studies have shown it has detoxing properties that metabolize and strengthen the liver; help prevent osteoporosis and bone loss; balance cholesterol by reducing triglycerides and increasing good HDL. There was even a study found that discovered one ancient civilization used it to treat gonorrhea!

Newer research suggests it helps with hypertension and acts as a muscle relaxant. It’s free of toxicity so it’s commonly found in the food industry (like in coloring CHEESE) but there are way more uses for it than that! Because it’s so rich in antioxidants like beta-carotene, bixin and carotenoids, Urucum is wonderful ingested internally just as when it’s applied topically.

For Hair

With all of its antioxidants and minerals, it’s no surprise that Urucum is also beneficial to the hair. It is often turned into an oil, or can be used as a paste in hair masks, shampoo or conditioner.

It protects hair and scalp from sun radiation, rebuilds split ends, regenerates hair structure, and smooths and moisturizes. The result is stronger hair that has extra bounce, shine, and is most loved for the definition it gives to curls (if you have curly hair).
